Braided River, Changing Perspectives
"As branches
of a braided river
cut new channels
and then reunite,
our books weave
connections
between
photographers,
writers,
environmental
groups and the
public."
BRAIDED RIVER
Braided River – a new conservation imprint from The Mountaineers Books – uses photography and essays to bring a fresh perspective to some of the key environmental issues facing western North America’s wildest places.

What's unique about Braided River is that the books go beyond the printed page, using author lectures, traveling exhibitions and multi-media presentations to reach a larger audience. Braided River also forges partnerships with leading environmental organizations to build awareness and provide resources for individuals to support critical conservation efforts.
The imprint name was chosen to reflect the collaborative nature of these projects. A "braided river" consists of several intertwining branches, or braids, that crisscross a low-lying area of sandbars or riverbanks.
"As branches of a braided river cut new channels and then reunite, our books weave connections between photographers, writers, environmental groups and the public," said Helen Cherullo, Braided River executive director. "Our logo conveys this natural phenomenon, and our tagline, Changing perspectives, communicates our mission to change the way people perceive the critical environmental issues facing our planet today."
